Introduction

For over 40 years, Karate Atlanta Kennesaw has been one of the most renowned ATA Tae Kwon Do facilities in the country. Led by 8th Degree Black Belt Chief Master Greg Arcemont, the school occupies over 5,000 square feet and is the training home of many district, regional, and world champions. When the COVID-19 pandemic made in-person instruction impossible, the school needed a way to continue high-quality martial arts training and reach students remotely.

The Challenge

Martial arts training is primarily hands-on, so social distancing placed significant constraints on instruction. Karate Atlanta Kennesaw needed a reliable, easy-to-use distance communication solution that could deliver high-quality video and audio to students remotely while supporting live classes and broader streaming to virtual audiences.

The Solution

Karate Atlanta Kennesaw partnered with PureLink to implement a distance learning solution using the PureStream line of PTZ cameras, wireless audio, and streaming encoders.

The system centered on the VIP-CAM-10-10x-USB2 PTZ camera, chosen for its high reliability, excellent image quality, smooth PTZ mechanisms, and remote preset recall. The WA-200 wireless audio system captured instructor and student voices, integrated via the HEMEXA audio embedder for clean, cost-effective audio.

For live streaming, the VIP-STREAM-100 II encoder enabled simultaneous broadcasts to Zoom, YouTube Live, and Facebook Live, allowing students to participate virtually and expanding the school’s reach beyond its traditional audience.

The Result

With PureLink solutions in place, Karate Atlanta Kennesaw successfully continued training programs during the pandemic. Students could attend live classes via Zoom, while broader audiences were reached through YouTube and Facebook Live. The system not only preserved operations but also opened new opportunities to expand the school’s reach and explore long-term distance learning capabilities.

Going from in-person to distance training was challenging and required a solid solution. PureLink’s system was reliable, simple to set up, and easy to operate daily. It has allowed us to maintain and even grow our student base during a time when most would have only held the line.
